Hands-On Splicing and Testing Course for Single-Mode TELCO Networks
Description
Corning Cable Systems' TS TELCO 200 is a two-day course that teaches fusion and mechanical splicing, cable termination (pigtail splicing) and acceptance testing with extensive hands-on practice.
The course includes class instruction, course materials, certificate of completion and the use of Corning Cable Systems’ ancillary equipment and hardware.
Student/Teacher Ratio: 1:6
Instruction: 90% Hands-on
BICSI CEC: 14 hours RCDD and/or lnstallation

- Theory and principles of fiber optics
- Fiber types and fiber manufacturing techniques: multimode and single-mode fibers
- Cable sheath removal and preparation techniques for splicing
- Splicing: applications, fusion, mechanical and termination methods
- Fusion splicing with the Corning Cable Systems X77 and M90 Fusion Splicers: features and troubleshooting tips
- Single-fiber mechanical splicing with the Corning Cable Systems CamSplice™ Mechanical Splice
- Use and operation of the Corning Cable Systems Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR): uses, principles of operation and typical display
- Splice test methods and procedures: field tests and documentation
- Attenuation test procedures: one, two and three jumper references
- Emergency restoration planning
- Safety: chemical safety, laser safety and fiber handling precautions
