Description
Corning Cable Systems' TS TELCO 300 is a three-day, hands-on course that teaches maintenance, troubleshooting and emergency restoration for a fiber optic cable network in an outside plant
environment. The course is ideal for craftsmen, outside plant managers and contractors who need to maintain and restore fiber optic cable. A maintenance plan is outlined and the course is highlighted
by a hands-on emergency restoration exercise.

BICSI CEC: 21 hours RCDD and/or lnstallation

- Introduction to fiber optics: history, advantages and applications
- Theory and principles of fiber optics: operational theory and system parameters
- Fiber types and fiber manufacturing techniques: multimode and single-mode fibers
- Cable manufacture and types: loose tube, tight-buffered and applications
- Use and operation of the Corning Cable Systems Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR): uses, principles of operation and typical display
- Single-fiber mechanical splicing with the Corning Cable Systems CamSplice™ Mechanical Splice
- Attenuation test procedures: one, two and three jumper references
- Emergency restoration planning: Emergency Restoration Kits (ERK® kits), system design and plan of attack
- Safety: chemical safety, laser safety and fiber handling precautions
