Product Changes and Enhancements

ST Bayonet (Plastic)
From an identification standpoint, these connectors are now TIA/EIA-568.B.3 compliant in that the bayonets are color-coded. For simplicity, you can continue to inventory only the black bayonet for use with both multimode and single-mode.

FC/ST® Compatible/SC Crimp Bands
FC/ST Compatible/SC Crimp Bands now have a stepped design, offering improved jacket retention compared to the previous cylindrical 3.0/2.0 mm band. The new crimp band design requires a new single-strike crimp tool, Part Number 3201031-01. The Corning Product Compatibility Chart references crimp band and boot combinations.

LC Crimp Bands
LC Crimp Bands no longer require a heat-shrink, reducing the number of steps in the assembly procedure as well as eliminating the need for a heat gun. The new crimp design improves quality and yield, and requires a single-step crimp tool, Part Number 3201032-01.

We have developed a comprehensive Corning Product Compatibility Chart that clearly explains part numbers for every configuration of boot, crimp band, recommended procedure, polishing fixture, process, etc. for each single-fiber connector type. MT-RJ and MTP® connector information will be available shortly. This guide should make purchasing a breeze and help eliminate the costly problem of not having the correct material when necessary.
